I have been wanting to visit Falling Waters for years. This year I decided I was going to ride up and spend a weekend seeing the sights. But my Mom and two sisters also wanted to go so it turned in to a family day trip.
It too about 4 hours to get there so we left very early for our noon tour time at Falling Waters. It was worth it. The house is stunning inside & out.
I took the regular tour which didn't allow me to take images inside the house. Our guide Troy was excellent and guided us through each room explaining the concepts and design that went in to each facet of Falling Waters.
The last weeks of heavy rain made the falls more beautiful than they normally would be. It was an amazing tour and an amazing house.
We went back to Ohiopyle to get some lunch and check out the white water rafters and went to Kentuck Knob. It was only seven miles away and we decided to check it out. It was another amazing house. Not as grand as Falling Waters but his Unitarian design was just as impressive.
The property had a wonderful sculpture garden including a section of the Berlin Wall. But it was the backyard view that I enjoyed.
We stopped for a delicious dinner at Penn Alps in Grantsville, MD and the the ride home.
