The 2014 VTI is in the books and Team UniTTy from North Carolina are the Champs. Team captain Brian "Schwebby" Schwebeger holds the Champions VTI Milk Jug.
It was a fun but exhausting weekend. I saw a lot of great disc golf from some of the best players on the east coast.
Team Greenville's Jon Mills recruited the other team captains to bring VTI host John Biscoe a new custom painted Discatcher for the course.

Spotsy's own Stephen Miller played great golf all weekend to win the open division. He threw some great rounds 58/58/55/29 (200). 20 strokes under par for the tournament.
Becky Sonnheim won the women's division shooting 66/70/66 (202) +13.
Tom Kim is the Masters Division champ with scores of 57/60/63 (180) -9.
Grandmasters champ Chris Hysell overcame an eight stroke deficit to win by 2 by shooting 64/62/61 (187) -2.
The worst break of the weekend was dealt to Tic Tac when a straight at the heart of the chains putt kicked out.

2013 Hawk Hollow Open: Ams
It was a long and rainy day....
That about sums up my day helping out at the Hawk Hollow Ams tourney. My feet were soaked from the get go. The morning round took about 4 hours and the afternoon round was about the same.
The Spotsy boys did good. Cody won Advanced, Chris came in 2nd and Ron 3rd.
Ryan won the Intermediate division.

Hawk Hollow host John Biscoe put together another great event.
The first days weather was cool but ended sunny and a little warmer.
Day two semifinal matches started earlier than scheduled. Cold & rain was expected in the afternoon hours. It was a cold morning and as the first matches ended the temps begin to drop. But the disc golfers bundled up and kept on playing.
Seneca defeated Cowbell 5-4 (in extra holes)
Spotsy defeated PA- 5-3
In the elimination match Triad defeated RADL 5-4
That set up the final round of best of 9 hole matches Spotsy vs. Seneca. Just as the crowd was gathering at the tees for 1 & 10 a few flakes of snow would drop every now and then. As the players began their matches the snow started coming down.

By the end of the best of 9 hole match play the temps dropped again as snow was coming down hard.
As the final matches finished they gathered at the top of the hill and was tied 4-4 with Bob's match still going on. Bob took the match after extra holes and Spotsy defeated Seneca 5-4.

Hawk Hollow Open
Well it's that time of year again. Time for the Hawk Hollow Open AM & Pro tournaments. I thought about playing in the AM event this year but decided that it would be easier on my ankles to just help out the TD and shoot some pics of the action.
One thing I was able to do was dye the tourney trophy discs. The first one I did was for the Hot Pepper eating contest that is held during the Pro weekend. John Biscoe grows them on his farm so they are fresh and juicy. These guys have to eat several varieties of hot peppers from Jalapenos to the Moruga Scorpion. I had to look that one up on Wikipedia and according to that source....
"The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (Capsicum chinense), endemic to the district of Moruga in Trinidad and Tobago, is currently the world's hottest Chili pepper cultivar. The New Mexico State University's Chili Pepper Institute has identified the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion as the newest hottest chili pepper in the world as of February 2012.[1][2] According to the New Mexico State University Chile Institute, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion ranks as high as 2,009,231 SHU on the Scoville scale, making it the hottest chili pepper in the world to date.[3] "
Whoever wins will get this disc...
I also did the division winners for this weekends AM event...

DGCR Mid-Atlantic Meet
This weekend 30 DGCR members converged on Hawk Hollow for a weekend of disc golf. The weather couldn't have been any better. Clear blue skies and fair temps made the event.
It was a great weekend. Lots of disc golf, good food and perfect disc golf weather.

Multi-Color Disc Dyes
It's been a while since I have posted anything. I did play in two tournaments. Did about the usual and didn't get in the prizes but I had fun.
The DGCR Hawk Hollow meet is coming up in 2 weeks and my contribution to the prize pool was to dye the trophy discs for Jerry. these were my first attempt at doing multiple colors.

They didn't turn out too bad for a first multi-color attempt.
