Disc Golf Ride

I recently began playing disc golf again after a 9 year break.

A little online research and I found a course just outside Standardsville. Greene County Community Park. So I strapped my disc bag to the back of the Sporty and headed out.

It was a beautiful day today. Clear blue skies and 68.

My plan was play the course and then hit Skyline to pick up my season pass for this year. But after the 18 it was almost 4 p.m. and I was a little tired so I headed home. But it wasn't a bad day at all. I rode about 125 miles and played a great course.

The 'Burg's first Quaker Steak Bike Night

Quaker Steak & Lube opened in the 'Burg last winter. The burgers are some of the best cooked ones in the city, but their fries suck.

Tonight was their first bike night.

I have gone to a lot of bike nights and always find them a little boring and usually leave not long after I arrive. I decided to go check out their bike night.

It was a sweet day even though the forecast warned of possible heavy thunderstorms. I showed up about an hour after it was supposed to start. There were a few vendors but from what I could tell with the reserved bike parking that it was just some kind meeting too. The warning signs that "No Weapons Beyond This Point" was kind of un-nerving.

So I went in deciding to get a burger cooked inside instead of buying a discount patty burned on their outside grill.

I finished the meal and walked around for a few minutes to see what's up and quickly became extremely bored and headed out for a long ride through the backroads home.

I probably won't be doing that again. I should have known better.

Blue Skies & Warm...

Spring is finally here. The Trees are starting to turn green. My truck has changed from red to orange from all the pollen on it.

But the best thing is it's warm enough to ride to work this week in short sleeves all week.

The first ride up to Skyline will be coming up soon.

Afternoon Ride...

The weather cleared up today and it was warm enough to ride without having to put on winter riding gear. I ended up riding about 100 miles today.

Finishing up in Downtown Fredericksburg before heading home.

The modifications to the oil lines seem to be holding.

Fuuuuccccckkkkk!

Today has been exhausting. Cleaned up the oil drain lines, changed the oil & primary.

The oil drain lines on the Sporty have been dripping a few drops of oil on long rides. The line is the original line and brittle & cracked and need to be cleaned up. Let me tell you reaching those lines is tough. Working on your side to take it apart & put on new worm clamps can wear you out.

I had an idea to see if I could make future oil changes easier.

I had an old Fram Sure Drain from one of the cars I sold before I moved up here and modified it and it fit the inside diameter of the oil line perfectly. I then mounted it to old oil line plug post until I can figure out something better.

Now for oil changes I just remove the cap and screw on the tube that opens the drain valve and let the oil flow out.

As I was underneath the bike working on the oil lines I noticed the kickstand was loose and not sitting right. So I took it apart and found out the top post bushing was worn out. Luckily I was able to find a replacement bushing that wasn't intended for the kickstand but fit just right. Now the jiffy stand (why is it called a jiffy stand?) retracts like new.

Virginia Bike Fest

Ken & I rode down to the Virginia Bike Fest at Virginia Motorsports Park just south of Richmond. It was a little chilly this morning but warmed up nicely. It was a great day to get a day ride in. The Bike Fest had Motorcycle drag racing and during the break anyone could take a run down the track. It didn't go so well for this one...
